APPENDIX 1

Ger-y-Parc Working Group Meeting Langstone Village Hall 7th January 2009

Present Councillor Simon Lane Councillor Chris Manship Councillor Mary Sanders Councillor Chris Pike Councillor Ynys Ann Edwards

Apologies Councillor Carol Bryant

THE BRIEF

The Ger-y-Parc Working Group has been formed to:

· Address issues of concern raised at the September 2008 community consultation meeting regarding the development of Ger-y-Parc, i.e. car parking and security.

· At an appropriate time organise a further consultation meeting to determine if these concerns have been addressed and the development project can move forward.

· If the project is supported the Working Group to then develop an updated project plan for the area and oversee the development.

THE BARRIERS

· At the first meeting of the Group 4.11.08, the issues of car parking and security for the area were discussed. The Group were unable to put forward positive solutions as.those attending were 4: 1 against the project.

· The second meeting of the Group 3.12.08 was not well attended, only two Councillors were present and the business meeting did not take place.

· At the third meeting of the Group 7.01.09, only Councillors who have voted against the project attended and so again it proved difficult to bring positive discussion to the table.

· The Councillors present at the 7.01.09 meeting have now questioned how the working group can move forward when those attending are against the project?

SOLUTIONS?

Should full Council discuss this project?

There was a consensus within the Group that:

· The Ger-y-parc development was not feasible at the moment and should be put on hold for 12 months.

· That the outcome of the village plan discussion meeting in February 09 should be awaited to determine if the Ger-y-parc development remains a priority.

· That if the L.C.C. agree that the project is put on hold, it is important to inform the community of this through Community First and because distribution difficulties may arise a leaflet drop should be undertaken especially in Ger-y- parc and the surrounding areas.

Meeting closed at 8.20p.m.
