Object on the following grounds:
Over development of the site, unsustainable development in a remote rural area and in particular r estrictions on drainage by Welsh Water until sewer improvements is completed. The feelings/objections of the local residents were noted.

Old Hamlet of Llanmartin. Request for £100.00 funding for tree removal in the Bethel Chapel cemetery. Agreed. Proposed by Cllr Mogford Seconded by Cllr Henderson.
Old Hamlet of Llanmartin. Request for help with funding repairs to wall following removal of trees (Estimate received for £842.00) Agreed that this should be funded by the Church or possibly assisted by Cllr Lane’s “Good Causes” Fund. Cllr Atwell’s fund has been used towards the Transporter Bridge (£1000.00) Llandevaud Tabernacle Church Cottage (£400.00) and Llanvaches children’s activity scheme (£100.00).

It was agreed that the vacant position would be advertised.
Park End Play Area
Meeting with Newport NCC is now urgent to sort out the legalities and responsibilities
Fence repairs are progressing, the materials required have been delivered and the gate & latch repairs will commence shortly
The wire mesh around the all weather pitch has been vandalised using wire cutters/hack saw with two panels approx 30cm x 100cm being removed. Cllr Lownes agreed to make the area safe ASAP.
Cllr Lownes informed the meeting that he was reluctant to continue with his inspection and ad hoc repairs to the Park. It was agreed that a maintenance plan was needed to manage the Park and to try and reduce vandalism and make the park more attractive.

The possible claim against the Council has been resurrected by the claimant who alleges sever head wounds caused by vandalised wire mesh in April 2008. Both Cllr Henderson and Cllr Lowndes have spoken to the Loss Adjuster.
Clerk to the Council
A complaint received from an unsuccessful applicant detailing the various aspects of the interview process that caused concern.
The complaint was discussed and the Selection Panel gave Councillors details of the process carried out with particular reference to the complainant’s concerns.
It was unanimously agreed that there had been a fair, reasonable and equitable selection process, which had been carried out in a professional manner.

It was agreed to offer the position of Clerk to Langstone Community Council to Sandra Hancock with immediate effect

Councillors thanked the Selection panel for their efforts over the last few months and the Chair for taking over the work of the Clerk in the interim period.
The Chair and the selection panel thanked th Councillors for their support.

Cllr Bryant enquired if it was possible to erect a bus shelter in Llandevaud. Cllr Attwell to progress.
Cllr Edward had received a complaint from a resident of Rosecroft Drive concerning
a) The demise of the builder of the estate and potential sewage problems
b) Rumours of possible housing development on the Hurran’s site.
Cllr Atwell stated that he was aware of a) and a meeting has been arranged to help solve the problem.
It was understood that Chepstow Garden Centre are taking over the Hurran’s site on a temporary basis but the situation will be closely monitored.
Councillors thanked the various people who provided refreshment for the meeting. It was agreed that refreshments would be provide at future meetings and paid for by the Council.
The Chairman thanked Cllr Kellaway for attended and stated that he was always welcome.
